The wheels will spin, but the actual driveline should be stationary if the tranny is in park. Otherwise the vehicle would roll away in park. It was very hard to get in installed into the tailshaft. Once it was in, I had to use a huge pair of pliers to be able to spin the slip yoke in the new bushing. It was really tight. I started the car, put it in gear and let the clutch out and the slip yoke spins. I let it spin for about a minute, hoping to "wear in" the new bushing.

If it's that tight, odds are the lock (balls) aren't releasing completely and or the shaft had paint on it. When you get it off, take some time and look at both the tractor side and the tiller side for paint, dirt or a rough machined spot. Clean or polish as necessary and it gets much better. Treefarmer. I have jacked it up and can turn the drive shaft. With truck running I can engage 4WD and the front diff locks so the actuator is working but I can still spin the front drive shaft turning the front wheels when I do! The T-case will shift into low but still no power to the front wheels. Lights act normal and no codes (I only have a cheap reader). Turn the wheel 2 complete turns. - Count the turns on the drive shaft. If it takes about 2 and three-quarters turns, it's around a 2.73 gear ratio. If it's a little more than 3, you have 3.08s. If it takes about 3 and a quarter turns of the driveshaft, you have 3.23 or 3.25 gears. Very close to 3 and three-quarter turns, 3.70 or 3.73 gears.

Cuttin-to-the-max, take the head off and see if the shaft spins freely. If it does, your clutch is probably worn out so the engine will rev but not transfer the power to the driveshaft. Eric. Take the driveshaft housing off and check the clutch. You could have a worn clutch drum as well. Oct 27, 2016 · If the rear differential will not spin with the vehicle off of the ground, then it has an internal failure or there is a failure in one of the rear bearings. I usually disconnect the axles first to isolate if the issue is in the differential or in a bearing. Dec 03, 2018 · Vermont. Hi guys, My JD 35d final drive began leaking gear oil so I tore it off the machine to dig into it. Prior to taking the travel motor off, I took the hydraulic motor side off. I fixed the leak in the travel motor and put the drive back in the machine. After hooking up the hydraulic lines, the drive won't just bogs the motor down.
Can't get my distributor in, the oil pump shaft seems to be off center.
Jan 30, 2004 · With both tires in the air, turning one should spin the other in the opposite direction. This should occur even if the pinion or ring were stripped. The spider gears should transfer power to the sides when the main axle is stationary. Just FYI...I have a 98 RS as well and will be swapping out my diff in a week or so. Once a gear is selected it locks them to the speed of the intermediate shaft which then turns the output shaft. In neutral with resistance on the output shaft, the resistance on the output shaft will "lock" the floating gears and the intermediate shaft will still spin independant of the floating gears.

August 2014. If it's in gear the drive shaft should spin the prop with little effort and vice-versa. No prop movement or even a jammed prop wouldn't be red hot news imho. Check the oil and even pull the top cap. Milky oil, water or metal is obviously not a good sign. Mark, there's a shear pin in some outboard props but I don't think there is in. Check for torn rubber on the driven disc or oil/grease on the aluminum disc. When you pull in the lever's handle, the driven rubber disc should make good hard contact with the drive disc. If it doesn't, adjust the cables. While you're in there, put a little grease on the hex shaft, upon which the driven disc moves. In 2wd I could spin the front drive shaft and the rear did not move, and neither did the front wheels. I engaged the PosiLock and turned the front drive shaft, and one wheel turned, still in 2wd, and the rear did not spin. I then put the t-case in neutral. Turning the front drive shaft also turned the rear drive shaft.

May 05, 2011 · Sounds like either the yoke come loose or a busted axle, if you didn't pull the axle shafts out, you can't rule them out. If the splines are well seated in teh spiders the wheel will still turn with the rear end off teh ground, but if theres a small fracture, it can spin under load and you may not be able to tell without pulling the shafts. If the truck has the newer Auto Track version, it is recommended to run the CV driveline, but you may squeak by with just having the factory front driveline extended 1.25. To check for the newer version, leave the truck engine off, transmission in park, and transfer case in 2WD. Grab the tube of the front driveline and try and spin it.

01 - Clutch. The clutch engages one or more drive shafts which attach to the trimmer head. If the clutch assembly is worn out, it won’t be able to engage the drive shafts to rotate the trimmer head. You may be able to clean and repair the clutch assembly. However, since replacing the clutch is relatively easy and inexpensive, it may be easier. Search: Drive Shaft Problems. If you can drive a short highway trip and get under the car quickly, feel the CV joints and wheel hubs, if one is hotter than the rest, that would indicate a problem Replacement The driveshaft from angle gear to viscous coupling needs to have the CV joints lubed by 100K miles or there is a great likelihood you will end up replacing the whole shaft assembly or at.

Don't know exact design in 10 but all the v drive is is a angled gear. It doesn't control "shifting" or direction of travel. It's just redirecting the angle of the output shaft.... When the transfer case is in two-wheel drive, the hubs should be released allowing the wheels to turn freely when spun by hand. If the axle shaft turns when you spin the wheel, it means the hub has not disengaged. To check engagement, rotate the axle shaft backwards. This should lock the hub. Try turning the wheel by hand again.
